A suspect accused of robbing a man in Kirkwood and then sending a text to his wife has been charged.

Corey Thompson, 21, is charged with first-degree robbery.

Police say the victim was walking home from downtown Kirkwood when Thompson, who was hiding behind a tree, pointed an object at him and demanded he empty his pockets.

The victim though the item being pointed was a gun and complied, police said.

Police said Thompson took his cellphone, keys and wallet before fleeing the scene.

The victim’s wife said Thompson later sent her a text with her husband’s phone that said: "shut the f--- up."

Thompson was later arrested on an unrelated charged. Police said he confessed to the robbery. He is being held on a $25,000 bond.
